SMALL ANTENNA terminals in the 13.75-14 GHz band would spur efficient spectrum use, alleviate congestion in the uplink Ku-band, and balance available uplink and downlink resources for FSS, the Global Satellite Operators Association said.

Industry demands for FSS uplink capacities are rising, which puts the currently available uplink band 14-14.5 GHz under pressure, Germany said in a call to international partners for information on radio-location use in a nearby band to update ITU-R guidance.  The Global Satellite Operators Association (GSOA) suggested changes may have developed in other services sharing the band 13.75-14 GHz, their applications and co-existence conditions.  The band 13.75-14 GHz, being adjacent to the 14-14.5 GHz, would be straightforward, cost efficient to implement in new amplifier models, GSOA said.
