Clarification (WRW Aug. 22 p3): U.S. experts working informally on satellite issues declined to agree to advance a suggestion to include work on regulatory measures to spur lunar and cislunar operations for the upcoming meeting of the FCC WRC-23 Advisory Committee, speakers indicated during a 30 August teleconference.  The bid for an agenda item at the subsequent WRC was nevertheless submitted to the FCC ECFS system — 16-185 — which is associated with WAC-23, and which remains entitled: “2019 World Radiocommunication Conference Advisory Committee.” — 31 August 2022

Collaboration between the FCC and NTIA will build on the drive for efficient use of spectrum by also gauging the effectiveness of spectrum policy and spectrum use in bids for reallocation and sharing that is to account also for the needs of local, state and federal government agencies, an updated MoU between the agencies indicated. One important strategic aim will be “to continue to replenish the supply of spectrum for private sector use,” NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson said last month. The agencies recently named personnel to pollinate ideas between the regulators (WRW 14 March p1). The MoU was last updated in 2003.
