WTSA in March will likely serve as a bellwether for later ITU meetings and practices, and may inform scope and expectations, sources told us.  ITU will return to some use of in-person meetings toward the end of the first quarter of the new year using a kind of hybrid approach.  Sources spoke to us before Switzerland further tightened restrictions on Dec. 20.  

A consumer gear manufacturer sought Dec. 8 a waiver to certain FCC labeling requirements for a signal booster to leverage indoor use of frequencies near 28 GHz or 39 GHz, a request to the FCC said.  The operating frequencies were described as within 27.5-28.35 GHz and/or 37 to 40 GHz.

The number of annual WTO technical barriers to trade notifications may be on track for a five percent rise this year, data on a WTO web page tracking notifications, suggested.  About 900 notifications were made through May 2020, the web page indicated.  During 2019, a total of 2,074 notifications were made, it indicated.  The number of notifications has risen from 1,424 submitted in 2015, to 2,074 submitted in 2019, it said.  The rise was largely attributed to developing and emerging economies, less so to least developed countries.
